About Upful

Good news, well told — and always sourced.

Upful is a news website with one rule: we only report good news. Every day, around the world, species are rediscovered, diseases are beaten back, forests grow back, communities pull together and scientists learn something astonishing. Those stories rarely lead the bulletins. On Upful, they are the bulletin.

We are not here to pretend the world has no problems. We are here to show, with evidence, that progress is real, and that it is happening every day — in environment and energy, wildlife and conservation, science and space, heritage and discovery, community and culture.

Editorial standards

Good news only works if you can trust it. These are the rules every Upful story follows.

  • Real news, properly sourced. Every story is based on reporting by an established news organisation, news agency, university, research journal or official body. We don’t publish rumours, viral claims or press releases on their own.
  • Always linked. Every story ends with a link to its original source, so you can read the full reporting and judge it for yourself.
  • In our own words. We summarise and explain; we don’t copy other outlets’ writing.
  • Genuinely good. A story has to describe real progress, not just a hopeful announcement or a product launch. We don’t publish “good news” that depends on someone else’s misfortune.
  • No hype. We report findings at the strength the evidence supports. An early study is described as an early study.
  • Honest pictures. Photos are openly licensed or used with permission, and credited under each image.
  • Independent. Upful carries no advertising and no sponsored content. Nobody pays to appear here.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we want to know. Email news@upful.co.uk with the story’s link and what needs correcting. We fix factual errors promptly and note significant corrections at the end of the story.
