Swiss wheelchair racer Catherine Debrunner set a world record at Sunday’s Chicago Marathon, crossing the line in 1:33:16 and finishing almost nine minutes clear of the field. The Chicago Sun-Times notes that Chicago is regarded as a technical course for wheelchair athletes, which makes the time all the more impressive. It was her third Chicago title.

Her compatriot Marcel Hug also had a day to remember, winning the men’s wheelchair race in a course record of 1:21:34. That beat his own mark from 2023 and gave him a fifth straight Chicago win and his seventh overall.

In the running races, Kenya’s Amos Kipruto finally took the men’s title in a personal best of 2:01:09, after finishing third in 2024 and second in 2025. Ethiopia’s Hawi Feysa defended her women’s crown, also with a personal best, in 2:13:33.
