The Los Angeles Philharmonic has named Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada as its first-ever creative chair for Latin music, Mexico News Daily reports. It is a new role for the 107-year-old orchestra.

Estrada, 29, will programme concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford that showcase Latin American musicians and musical traditions. She will also work with Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, the Phil’s programme that gives free music training to young people in the city.

Estrada won the Latin Grammy for best new artist in 2022, and her 2025 album picked up six nominations at this year’s awards. Her appointment gives one of the world’s leading orchestras a fresh voice and a big platform for music from across the Americas.
