A large green sea turtle named Jurassic has been released back into the Atlantic Ocean in Florida after a month of rehabilitation, Euronews reports.

The 215-pound adult male had been found stranded and sluggish, unable to control his buoyancy because gas had built up in his digestive system. Staff at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center cared for him until he was strong enough to go home.

On 30 September staff and volunteers carried Jurassic down the beach as onlookers watched him head back into the waves. He now carries a satellite tracker, so researchers can follow his journey and learn more about how green turtles use the ocean after rehabilitation.

For a species conservationists work hard to protect, every healthy adult returned to the sea is a small but welcome win.
